Best practice for today’s teachers is to have a web presence that is always accessible to students, but it can be a daunting prospect to set up your own website. WordPress is an easy tool to create a flexible and dynamic digital repository using a full featured content management system.
You will learn how to customize your own website, how to use WordPress to blog; communicate with parents and students; post resources, videos, projects, homework, and copies of handouts; host student discussions; and more!
This workshop is part of our “Make It, Take It” series, and aims to have you setup and ready to go once you leave here, knowing full well how to use your new tool!
To that extent, we manage all of the behind the scenes stuff, like registering your domain / URL, installing WordPress on a hosting server, etc. All you’ll have to do, is show up, log in, and get started! We will ask you to request possible domain names you would like us to register for you on the registration form, so please make sure you have thought a bit about it before requesting domains. The reasoning behind setting it all up for you is this: We know spending time you don’t have is difficult, and if we can eliminate one or two more steps from the procedure of setting up a fully functional, professional website – so much the better. And, you will enjoy local tech support (regarding your WP site) for the next year when you attend our workshop on WordPress!

Current NORT2H members (any staff within a member school district) will receive the discount price of $99, and non-members $129, payable by Purchase Order or Personal Check.
When?
Check the training calendar for the next available date. Remember, spots fill up quickly, and the workshop is limited to 12 people, so don’t hesitate to sign up early!
All training is held at the Lorain County ESC, 1885 Lake Ave, Elyria 44035. We get started at 8:30 AM promptly, so feel free to show up a little early to get your technology setup, like plugging in your laptop, etc. If you need to borrow a laptop, let us know when you register, and we’ll have a loaner laptop for you!
